Back in August, we asked members of your community to share health challenges they faced, and what lessons they have learned that could be shared with others. We heard some very inspiring stories and wanted to pass them on in a special wellness series.
Building a healthy lifestyle starts with small, consistent habits. Often, it’s the little changes that lead to the biggest transformations. The Wellness Series will offer simple lessons, inspired by real stories from The Good Chocolate community, to help you make those changes in your own life.
Wellness Lesson 1:
Build Healthier Habits Through Consistency
Inspired by Madeleine

Madeleine transformed her life by detoxing her body with fruits, vegetables, and plenty of water. Her focus on small daily habits, like walking and being kind to nature, shows that wellness isn’t about drastic changes—it’s about consistency. “It has to become a habit every day with positive thoughts.”
Tip: Incorporate small but meaningful habits into your daily routine. Whether it’s hydrating, eating more fruits and vegetables, or taking a walk, consistency is key.
Action Step
This week, commit to one new healthy habit, like drinking more water or adding a 10-minute walk to your day. Try adding a new habit every week or 2 and watch real changes take hold! If you fall off, don’t start anything new, take the next week to start up again.
Wellness Lesson 2:
It’s Never Too Late to Make a Change
Inspired by Cheryl

At 62, Cheryl faced several health challenges, including being 130 pounds overweight and pre-diabetic. By gradually changing her diet, cutting out soda and junk food, and introducing exercise, she transformed her health. “Take good care of yourself so you can be there for others. Treat yourself as your best friend or beloved family member. Giving is great but don’t overextend yourself emotionally, physically or financially. Take time for yourself to do things that bring you joy.”
Tip: Whether you’re starting from scratch or already on your wellness journey, remember that it’s never too late to make a change. Start with small adjustments to your diet or activity levels, and over time, those changes will add up.
Action Step
Replace one unhealthy snack with a healthier alternative, like dark chocolate and Greek yogurt, or swap soda for water. Keep a journal of kind acts towards others and yourself.
Wellness Lesson 3:
Keep Moving, Even in the Face of Challenges
Inspired by Eileen

At 78, Eileen stays vibrant, healthy, and medication-free by making movement a part of her daily life. She’s a strong advocate for supplements and keeping your body active. “I am 78 years old, take NO medication, play tennis, have loads of energy and feeling like I’m in my 40’s.”
Tip: No matter your age, staying active is crucial for both physical and mental well-being. Whether it’s walking, playing tennis, or simple stretching, keep moving and stay engaged with life.
Action Step
Try to move your body for at least 15 minutes today—whether it’s a walk, some light yoga, or even dancing to your favorite song.
Conclusion
Wellness isn’t about quick fixes. It’s about small, consistent habits that lead to lasting changes. Whether you’re making a small dietary shift, committing to daily movement, or simply drinking more water, start today and watch the transformation happen over time!
